Abstract

Forests take a special value as far as the fauna is concerned because this last one is tightly linked to the woodland for the accomplishment of many phases of its biological cycle. The abandonment of the poor zones of the mountain and the evolution of the forest management techniques have altered the order and structure of the landscape leading to a substantial change in the quality and quantity of the various popolations of wild animals. Therefore, fauna can become a condition for the change of the self regulation mechanisms of the ecosystems. Thanks to a particular improvement of the surroundings it will be possible to restore the quality of the fauna and to distribute the animal population in a more homogeneous area.
