Abstract

The Authors examine the problems concerning the management of the fallow-deer population in the Apennines.
This species, which was reintroduced in State forests since after world, war has not succeeded in colonizing hunting areas due to reasons connected with forest management and wild-boar hunting. Some untenable overload situations have taken place in strict no-hunting areas. In each situation it is necessary to evaluate every detail, explaining therefore the eventual solutions. The problem on the whole can be solved only with a specific regulation which allows selective hunting drawing also in State forests.
