Abstract

The wild boar problem in the last decades involves almost all the forest areas of the Italian peninsula. The incorrect management of these populations may create the premise of ecological failures not only in the forest but
also in the fauna because boar often acts like a predator: especially the sows during suckling.
The abundant alimentary offer due to the abandonment of coppices and chestnut stands makes it necessary to limit these populations with an adequate hunting technique.
