The Ogliastra giants: relic giant trees of Sardinia

Abstract

In Sardinia, although human activity has determined, all along the last centuries, a strong impact on forests, there are still several giant trees, last remains of Mediterranean ancient forests. This note describes giant trees in the Ogliastra area. An important role for forest conservation is the absolute protection of these last surviving giant trees.
