Abstract

The open check-dams are able to establish a selective retention of the sediment particles transported by flow and to preserve the equilibrium of the reaches downstream from the stream rehabilitation works.
At first in this paper the hydraulic behaviour of an open check-dam with a slot is presented. Then, for the case of an open check-dam with an upside down trapezium slot, the equations available to solve the technical problems are proposed. Finally, some closed form equations useful to solve the technical problems (verification and design) are deduced.
