Abstract
The park of S.Giorgio Maggiore Island in Venice's lagoon was projected and realised in the '50s, as a green fitting of the Open Air Theatre «Teatro Verde». From the '70s it was forsaken and the origina1 simple design of the garden has evolved towards complex structures made up of trees and shrubs, resembling a forest in some aspects. Now it seems impossible to restore the original design of the park, both for economic and environmental impact aspects. Following that, the chosen approach to the park restoration uses forestry techniques to maintain the actual romantic and woody look. It will be obtained through a series of careful, progressive and controlled subsidiary felling and plantation.
