Abstract

The Monte Morello (Florence, IT) afforestation has been realized with a big economic and human effort during the last century, mostly using conifers. While the present-day landscape of Florence’s hills is characterised by these conifer’s plantations, the evolution in progress through natural regeneration proceeds toward native broadleaved woods. This paper presents the guidelines of a «renaturalization » management plan aimed to support and facilitate this process, to seek for with continuous, careful and thorough actions. The strategy of this «open» plan entails constant verifications of the effects of every planned action as a feedback for the manager and the silviculturist.
