Abstract

Vallombrosa, cradle of Italian forestry and foresters, is still the kernel of scientific debate, being the site of application of the innovative principles of Systemic silviculture. The first results of the application of these principles to artificial conifer stands are interesting both by a scientific point of view and by a productive-managerial one. Constant monitoring of ongoing dynamics and observation of the results have proved fundamental activities for those foresters that intend to foster sustainable forest management, as part of the renaturalization of simplified stands.
