Abstract

Vallombrosa is still the kernel of scientific debate, as a cradle of forestry and foresters, and as a site of implementation of the innovative principles of sustainable forest management. The enhancement of forest-timberenergy chain will allow the start-up of a modern district heating fed on chips produced in Vallombrosa. In this way, the short, local chain boosts an active forest management. Alongside the economical benefits, it must be highlighted the advance in the sector of renewable power sources, with the elimination of noxious emission due to fossil raw material combustion.
