Considerazioni sulla ricerca forestale mondiale

Abstract

La ricerca forestale è la base per fronteggiare le sfide a cui le foreste sono sottoposte, quali la crisi climatica, la perdita di biodiversità, l’inquinamento ambientale e l’ingiustizia sociale. Questo lavoro riassume gli argomenti principali per la ricerca forestale così come emersi durante le attività recenti della Unione Internazionale delle Organizzazioni di Ricerca Forestale (IUFRO). I principali obiettivi della ricerca forestale al momento sono rivolti a trovare soluzioni per: rafforzare la resilienza e l’adattamento climatico delle foreste; mantenere e migliorare i valori sociali delle foreste per società sostenibili; espandere il ruolo delle foreste e dei prodotti forestali in una bioeconomia responsabile e circolare; e trasformare le scienze forestali per il futuro.
