Abstract

This study is the first of a series which has the aim of illustrating the results of the analysis that has regarded the most important scientific contributions on Forest Typologies by Italian scholars from the beginning of the XXth century. Its development, relative to the studies of the first half of the last century, has assured the first developments of Sylviculture in this field and underlined the utilization in the forest management procedure, applied to the Mediterranean forest, considered in its largest meaning.
