Abstract
Sustainable forest management issues and its links with ecocertification processes are discussed. The ideologica1 positions and the different approaches for the definition of sustainability and conservation criteria are firstly analyzed. The state-of-the-art about forest ecocertification systems and indicator systems is then synthetically illustrated. Finally, paradigmatic operational scenarios to which the forestry situation in Italy can referred are outlined.
