Abstract

The concept of "Closer to Nature Forestry" is spreading from Europe to us. This is based on the need to conceive forest management primarily focused on biodiversity conservation and addressing climate change. While fully sharing the indicated objectives, the actual coherence of the concept of "closer to nature forestry" must be assessed in relation to these goals.To do this,it is necessary to examine the concept of nature, that of forestry and their convergence in the contemporary context. At the end of this analysis the greater adequacy of an alternative forestry paradigm, that of Systemic Silviculture,will emerge and will appear to be "natural" in every respect.
