Abstract
The awareness that the forest is a “complex biological system” requires a reinterpretation of the Forest-Man relationship together with the relationship between Nature and Culture. It should be remembered that "environmental education" is a process of social and cultural growth that inevitably involves the policies and economic processes connected to forest management. In this regard it is necessary to identify the three cornerstones of forestry culture: History, Science, Knowledge. An important role in this process is that of Forestry Congresses, where it is possible to verify the evolution of forestry thought and outline cognitive, scientific and innovative syntheses projected towards the future and for the full implementation of the concept of sustainable forest management.
