Abstract
Over the last years, Forest Science has demonstrated that the forest is a “complex biological system”. Like all biotic communities the forest must be considered a subject of rights, precisely the rights of the forest. This poses legal and ethical problems. The Author discusses the need for a legal frame that considers the central role of forest ecosystems and acknowledges the “intrinsic value” of the forest.
