Abstract
The Ramsar Convention was signed on February 2, 1971 and stems from the need to reverse the process of transformation and destruction of wetlands. Despite 40 years of works, the emergency is always present and relevant because of the vulnerability of habitats that characterize these environments. Aim of this work is to contribute to the estimation of the efficiency of the Ramsar Convention in riparian forest habitats of Community interest, providing the first description of the current national situation. The assessment was performed using the latest technical-scientific information. In the spirit of the theme which is dedicated this year “Forest for water and wetlands”, we present the encouraging results obtained from analysis of data.
