Abstract

The management of forests subject to derogations from the ordinary regime of landscape authorisation is particularly complex. Indeed, it is necessary to combine the maximization of the landscape with the economic sustainability of the forest activity. That implies on the one hand maximizing the value of a non-market asset, on the other hand the need to arrive at an economic and financial balance. This paper will start from the analysis of the problems of an appraisal and evaluative nature and then it will develop economic evaluations. The aim of this short text is to provide useful elements for defining future guidelines that can reconcile the aspects of landscape protection with those of forest management.
