Reference elements for the management of forest areas subject to specific regulatory constraints for landscape purposes

Abstract

The need to manage the dynamism of forest landscapes in Italy, significantly characterized by their growing extension, and the use of the ecosystem utilities they provide has led to the updating of forestry regulations with specific reference to  landscape issues: distinctively, in the article 7, paragraph 2 of the legislative decree no. 34/2018 it is envisaged that interventions concerning forest management in areas subject to specific regulatory constraints for landscape purposes (article 136 of the legislative decree no. 42/2004) are agreed upon by regional landscape plans or by specific agreements between the Regions and the competent territorial bodies of the Ministry of Culture, in compliance with the guidelines that will be the subject of a specific ministerial decree. This note provides some considerations on the topic, in the form of a commented discussion, together with an illustrative examination of the type of interventions to be included in the guidelines.
