Forests in Italy according to the most updated information sources

Abstract

In the last years, the international, national and local contexts have become moreand more binding as concerns forest and environmental political framework and,consequently, the need of updated and reliable data have been more and more demanding. In the perspective of an outline at national level, the present paper aims tooverview the main information sources with respect to the most relevant forest figures.The purpose of the paper is not a critical analysis, but rather a review of the data as abrief commented compendium. Particular attention is devoted to forest land figures asassessed by the Italian Statistical Agency.
