Abstract

The author examines the problem of forest fire prevention in protected areas and the role and actions of the Ministry for the Environment – Division X, Direction for Nature Protection – on the basis of National Law n. 353/2000 on forest fires. A historical outline of fire occurrence within National Parks is drawn out using data collected over a period of almost ten years. This analysis shows that, on the whole, the national trend is positive.
