Abstract

The study of the hydrological balance within the forest systems holds a fundamental role in the framework of the actions which fight the desertification. These latter consider the sustainable management and the increasing of the forest patrimony as useful measures to adopt. The carried out research outlines three main aspects on the forest impact and its management in the transformation process of rainfall to runoff in laricio pine reforestations. The acquired results demonstrate as the cutting can contribute to improve the ground water reservoir during periods of greater water deficiency in Mediterranean environment, these assume an integrated management of water and forest resources.
