Abstract

The basic scientific education of the silviculturist and, more generally, of the forester is rendered problematic by the progress of natural sciences along separated, specialised sectors. The author proposes a «forest sociology» based on principles derived from human sociology considered in the liberal sense. The increasing weight and dispersion of specialized knowledge can be made more sustainable by this approach.
