Abstract

In the last years, also following specific actions of the Rural Development Plan, important environmental interventions for fauna improvement have been realized within the Trentino Region, particularly in relation to black grouse (Tetrao tetrix) reproductive habitat restoration. One of these interventions is slashing, mainly mechanic, of ex-pastured sub-alpine lands, that have been invaded by shrubs since the second post-war period. The paper describes characteristics of a complex intervention realized in 2006-2007 in an Eastern Trentine hunting reserve, and perspectives given by implementation of measures of the new Rural Development Plan 2007-2013.
