Abstract

In the Italian Cultural Heritage Code there are some articles related to the protection of landscape assets (No. 134, 136, 142, 143, 149) in which there are also references pertaining to the protection of forest areas. In Italy, the close interconnection that exists between legislative competences concerning several aspects (cultural, environmental, forestry, landscape) and administrative competences on different scales (local, regional, national) has generated many debates and discussions that, in recent years, have involved both the regions and the Legislative Office of the Ministry of Culture and have reached the Council of State and the Constitutional Court. It is necessary and desirable for all authorities involved to work together to arrive at a shared discipline of forest use aimed at preserving the national forest heritage.
