Abstract

The woods of the wooden agricultural sledges in Trentino Region Ten tregge, sledges which symbolize the traditional forestry and mountain utilization have been investigated in their structural elements. In each of these components a sample, for the identification of the species according to UNI 11118:2004 standard, has been collected. The results have been compared with the information coming from the popular tradition and valued from the wood technology point of view. The analysed items show a different use of the various types of wood, generally coherent with the traditional directions, to be considered correct keeping in mind the mechanical needs of the different structural parts. The analysis is meant to be a contribution for the valorisation of popular culture and tradition, proving elements as for future maintenance and restoration programmes.
